She took us to our hotel. It is small and cozy--just like she said. It is called the Hotel Maki.
Upon our arrival at the Minchurinsk Lyceum, we were greeted in the traditional Russian manner--salt and bread. It was too beautiful to eat, but our hosts insisted. The young girl who brought it to us was also lovely!
We spent our first day getting a tour, having breakfast with the English teachers and observing classes, including a drama performance by some very talented fifth graders. They performed, Alice in Wonderland, Winnie the Pooh, and Tom Sawyer. We also saw the 8th form's presentations on Minchurinsk, Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Russian art and culture.
While touring the library, I noticed Harry Potter, my son Conrad's favorite books, so I took this picture to show him a Cyrillic translation of it. Our breakfast had meats, sweets, (blinis) and tea. The final picture is of a wonderful girl in the 8th form named Elina. We spent some time after the presentation getting to know her.
